Head of Operations

As our Head of Operations for our Eastern Regional team, you’ll use your enthusiasm, positive thinking, and your management skills to support our local team. You will promote integrated working between the professional and trade union elements of RCN work and liaising and working with other RCN staff and departments as appropriate.

As the Head of Operations, you will be a key member of the regional management team and key to managing the overall service delivery of the region and ensuring the effective provision of advice, support and representation to RCN members. An inclusive leader, you’ll role model RCN values and ensure the region works to challenge the discrimination our members experience in the workplace.

You’ll be responsible for the line management of Senior RCN Officers and overseeing the work and development for RCN reps and activists in the region. The regional management team lead on member and activist recruitment and retention.

Every day will be filled with possibilities as you find new ways to manage and support the development of your team. Taking care of our members will be your primary role, but you’ll also see the possibilities that new members can bring. A key part of what you do will be to suggest innovative approaches to grow our membership.

An experienced manager, you will need knowledge of contemporary nursing, health & social care issues as well as knowledge of best practice in relation to employment practices, equality and diversity, human rights and equal opportunities.

The ability to foster strong professional relationships and encourage close collaboration between departments is at the heart of this leadership role.

About the Housing and Land directorate

The Housing and Land directorate is responsible for the Mayor’s plans to deliver new and improved homes and strong communities. Working closely with boroughs and other partners, we manage the Mayor’s housing investment programmes, commissioned services and land and property assets to support the supply of affordable homes, job creation and regeneration.

About the Specialist Housing and Services team

This team is seeking to support a wide range of Londoners who may be marginalised by the housing market. These roles are two of three lead managers that report into the Head of Service, working as a group to provide collective leadership. The team provides services and programmes that support Londoners in pathways to safe, secure and decent accommodation. People experiencing homelessness, rough sleepers, survivors of domestic abuse, adults with learning disabilities and older people are just some of the groups the team supports.

About the roles

You will drive the GLA’s efforts with partners to be a system leader in homelessness prevention, rough sleeping, and specialist and supported housing provision. The work of the team is shifting to respond to a highly complex environment in a broad system, to make the most impactful interventions for the Londoners we serve. We are looking for proactive and highly organised people with excellent problem solving, influencing and negotiating skills. They will also need to be skilled and adaptable leaders who can manage change with compassion and focus.

You will oversee and lead teams delivering a range of capital and revenue funding programmes. As a system leader, you will consider and design programmes, services and interventions to ensure they maximise value for Londoners. Working with the full range external stakeholders in this space will be a fundamental aspect of these roles, including involvement in securing government funding for new and existing programmes, services and interventions. You will also oversee promotion and support to prospective bidders, bid assessment and evaluation, contracting, and outcome monitoring and reporting.

Consultant Admiral Nurse - Young Onset Dementia

Dementia UK is seeking a Consultant Admiral Nurse - Young Onset Dementia to provide expert clinical advice and support to families.

As part of our team, you will provide strategic, professional, and clinical leadership in Admiral Nursing, contributing to educational programmes and developing resources to raise awareness and promote best practice. You will also ensure that the needs of those affected are represented in national policy, research, and clinical guidance.

Clinical support can be delivered via telephone, online, and in clinics, and you will dedicate a minimum of 25% of your time carrying out this essential work. In collaboration with healthcare and social care partners, you will offer specialist advice to other Admiral Nurses and professionals across the sector, sharing high-quality education and research. Your leadership skills will be essential in motivating staff at all levels and in developing and leading policy relating to young onset dementia.
