Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our multi-cultural, friendly team of CT and General Radiographers. This opportunity will enable you to support in the leadership and management of the CT and Plain film service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

The post holder will oversee the CT  and Plain film Ssevices across two sites and the newly formed CDCs,  working closely with the Deputy Operational Managers, CT superindentents,  Modality Leads, Radiographers, and Radiologists, as well as our support staff to optimize all aspects of the service.

We are looking for a technical expert, who demonstrates good technical skills, extensive knowledge and understanding of both, QA procedures and PACS, Radiation Protection supervisory experience with a keen interest in training and motivating a strong team cross-site, with busy work environments.

The service is often fast-paced and interesting but can also be demanding, which will suit someone who is quick-thinking, professional, and dedicated to working as part of a strong clinical team. The applicant will be passionate about high standards of care and professionalism,  a team player with excellent communication, negotiation, and teaching skills. Additionally, they will have a keen interest in and experience with service delivery and staff management skills.

Main duties of the job

As part of the larger Radiology management team, the Superintendent holds line management responsibilities for rotational radiographic staff and is required to work as an operational lead for the imaging department on a rotational basis with the other Superintendent Radiographers.

Other duties include:

  • Lead, manage, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Modality or CDC 
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of radiographers and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards, guidelines, and protocols, including those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance efficiency, quality, and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care pathways and outcomes.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively, including equipment, staffing, and budgets.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in diagnostic imaging technology and participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills across all clinical staff including apprentices and AP Radiographer
