Job overview
The post involves the provision of administrative support to primarily one service of the department plus Reception duties, but may be required to work in any area as required.
Our department is multi-disciplinary providing clinical services in the fields of diagnostics and rehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide effective and efficient administrative support to the service(s) that they work in. They will work within the administration team, supporting the clinical, scientific and technical staff and each other to deliver a high quality service to patients and other health care professionals. Though based in one service, the post holder may be required to work in other areas of the department where support is needed. They will be required to follow established procedures and work under direct or indirect supervision but use their own initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their own work.
The post holder will be required to communicate professionally with patients, healthcare professionals and suppliers, some of the information being complicated and sensitive in nature. To work in the admin offices and in our receptions to perform all aspects of these administrative tasks.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Five GCSEs at Grade A-C (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics
- ECDL or equivalent level of computer skills
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 qualification in an administration related subject (e.g. NVQ, A/S levels) or equivalent level of knowledge
Skills
Essential criteria
- Using office based computer programs, including word processing and data entry into spreadsheets and databases
- Good communication and telephone manner
Experience

- Relevant experience in an administrative/ secretarial role
