Job overview

HMP Liverpool is a Category B male prison with an excellent HMIP/CQC Report (published 14th January 2020). We have a vacancy for an outstanding medication management focused Pharmacist to engage with this award-winning team in continuing its healthcare transformation. The role will be Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week. 

The welcome payment is payable to new candidates joining Spectrum Community Health CIC. 

Main duties of the job

The role will involve the overall daily organisation, planning and co-ordination of all pharmacy services on-site. The post holder will work with the Medicines Management Pharmacist, other Spectrum Specialist Prison Pharmacists, Lead GP, other GPs, and pharmacy staff on site, our partners and the prisons to ensure prison pharmacy services are of the highest quality.

In line with the well-being model of healthcare the post holder, through a partnership approach, will also help patients to optimise their medicines by tailoring medicines and support to the individual patient needs. Experience of offender health is desirable however we would welcome and individual who is multiskilled across complex care pathways. The role requires excellent communication skills and dynamic work practices. We are looking for somebody who can deliver at least equivalent care to that of the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing policy and procedure and will need to be able to support the nursing team to ensure care of the highest standard. The post holder will work to uphold Spectrum Community Health’s Values.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum Bachelor or Masters Degree in Pharmacy and further relevant post graduate qualifications
  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
  • Undertaken training for clinical therapeutics to specialist level e.g. National Prescribing Centre therapeutic training
  • Pharmacist, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Experience of non-medical prescribing
  • RCGP Part 1 and 2 in Substance Misuse

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Computer Literate ( Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Specialist comprehensive clinical knowledge e.g. substance misuse
  • Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
  • Knowledge of current NHS policies, processes and structures
  • Knowledge of medicines management in community or hospital pharmacy
