Person specification

Experience/ Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Basic medical degree
• Postgraduate qualification or appropriate specialist qualification
• Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
• CCT in Anaesthesia or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
• Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC

Desirable criteria

• Higher Degree
• ATLS/ APLS/ ALS
• Masters level degree in clinical education
• Interest in overseas education and training
• Evidence of national level leadership
• MRCP/or equivalent

Clinical Skills and Experience

Essential criteria

• Broad experience in all aspects of Anaesthesia and Acute Pain
• Experience in Anaesthesia for trauma and obstetrics
• An ability to rapidly assess and start to manage patients on the wards which may even avert to ITU admission/Emergency theatre

Knowledge

Desirable criteria

• Breadth of experience in and outside specialty

Organisation and Planning

Essential criteria

• Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
• Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
