Job overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team and play a key role in leading the provision of specialist psychological services within the secondary care Community Mental Health teams. This role will focus on the non-psychosis provision and the Personality and Complex Trauma Pathway (PACT), providing expert psychological opinion, supervision, and consultancy to both clients and professionals.
You will be part of the community mental health leadership team and will be working with dynamic multidisciplinary teams across Coventry and Warwickshire, offering clinical leadership, supervision, and ensuring the continuous development of psychological professions staff and the implementation of best practices in psychological care. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with significant experience in secondary mental health care to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with complex psychological needs.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and expert psychological services within the non-psychosis and PACT pathways.
- Offer consultancy, guidance, and supervision to clinicians and other professionals within the Community Mental Health teams, ensuring high standards of care and clinical practice.
- Contribute to service development and innovation, ensuring the systematic provision of psychological services and fostering continuous improvement across services.
- Provide professional advice on clinical formulations, treatment plans, and diagnoses, and facilitate complex case discussions with multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Engage in service audits, research, and clinical governance initiatives, contributing to the development and evaluation of services.
- Supervise doctoral trainees, volunteers, and staff, providing professional guidance and facilitating their professional development.
- Play an active role in training and mentoring the next generation of clinical psychologists and mental health professionals.
- Lead the development of psychological services across secondary care, advocating for the integration of psychological knowledge into clinical practice.

- Further post – doctoral qualification / registration
Knowledge and Skills

- Proven supervision and management skills
- Post-doctoral training relevant to the post
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialist assessment methods and therapeutic approaches in relation to the client group
- Well developed communication skills
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the designated services
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of clinical leadership and service development.
- Extensive experience of delivering highly specialist services
- Experience of working with a range of clients, including those with eating disorder, presenting a range of clinical severity and maintenance of professionalism in challenging circumstances.
