Exciting Opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse – Chemotherapy Day Unit

Are you passionate about Oncology and Haematology nursing? Join our dynamic and supportive Chemotherapy Day Unit as a Band 5 Staff Nurse.

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to a diverse group of chemotherapy patients in a fast-paced, nurse-led environment. You should be able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.

This position offers opportunities for professional development, including further study to enhance your skills and expertise in chemotherapy nursing.

Main duties of the job

•    To plan, implement, deliver and evaluate nursing care within the day unit.
•    To be responsible for high standards of nursing care.
•    To assist in the auditing of patient care and service delivery.
•    To maintain good nursing documentation in accordance with trust policy.
•    To maintain patient confidentiality
•    To ensure safe and appropriate discharge from the Day Unit following consultation/treatment.
•    To be aware of legislation regarding Health and Safety and COSHH and to act accordingly
•    To demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of infection control and perform to the highest standards when completing asceptic techniques
•    To manage and advise patients and other members of staff on peripheral and central lines
•    To be able to interpret blood results and act accordingly
•    To acquire, use, develop and teach additional skills e.g. venesection, cannulation and venepuncture.

  • Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration

  • ENB998 or Mentor Prep qualification
  • Trained in the administration of chemotherapy
