Job overview
We are seeking a dedicated, innovative and organised individual to join our growing and experienced team as our Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (12.75 hours per week). The post holder will be based at Frimley Park Hospital, within the Nutrition and Dietetics department, working with the Paediatric team.
You will work closely with the Dietitians to support the team in delivering high quality nutrition care by; developing and delivering group education sessions with patient groups and staff, home enteral nutrition patients, updating educational material, supporting patient related queries and stock control. Main duties of the job
- The post holder will play a crucial role in providing Nutrition and Dietetic Support to individuals.
- The role supports the education of both staff and patients and ongoing monitoring to promote nutrition within the paediatric population group.
- The key area of focus for this role is to support the development and delivery of group education sessions to patients and their carers.
- You must have good communication skills and the ability to problem solve and use initiative to deal with varied queries.
- Good basic office and computer skills are required for this post as well as being able to work as a flexible and supportive team member.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assist in the support and nutritional management of both inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of a Dietitian.
- To organise the ordering and distribution of nutritional supplements and feeds
- To provide patient related administrative support for the Dietitians and participate in secretarial duties with the dietetic secretaries
- To complete home enteral feeding registration and updates, GP letter prescriptions and sample requests on direction of Dietitians
- To work as an effective member of the dietetic team and contribute to the development of the dietetic service
- To support the departmental audit and training programme

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard in Maths/English
- Undergone relevant theoretical and practical work-based training or holds academic/NVQ level III qualification
Desirable criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Nutrition or Public Health
- Member of British Dietetic Association as Dietetic Assistant
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working within public health
- Secretarial/administrative experience with record keeping
- Team working experience
Desirable criteria
- Presentation/group work skills
- Knowledge of stock monitoring
- Experience of collecting data
- Experience of working with patients
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good understanding and the role of a Dietitian
- Enthusiasm for nutrition science
