Main duties of the job
To drive efficiency savings for service development and planning, with particular focus on the non-admitted and admitted patient pathways for Trauma and Orthopaedics within the remit of the role as defined by the Managing Director of Trauma and Orthopaedics.
The post holder will provide a highly visible and credible presence across the Trauma & Orthopaedic directorate. They will ensure that high standards of patient care and communication are provided to all patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure an optimised patient experience through efficient service delivery.
- Lead on achieving inpatient and outpatient waiting list targets.
- Support service improvement plans aligned with national and Trust priorities.
- Improve clinic booking and theatre utilisation, ensuring best use of resources.
- Work with booking teams to manage outpatient waiting times effectively.
- Implement and monitor KPIs related to service performance.
- Manage consultant timetables, outpatient templates, and theatre sessions.
- Support the implementation of ‘one-stop shop’ patient pathways and enhanced triage via e-RS.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and prevention practices.
- Deputise for senior managers as required.
Service Development & Delivery:
- Review and manage consultant clinic templates for full utilisation.
- Support service transformation with Integrated Care Systems (ICS) and MSK services.
- Work with clinicians to explore innovative service models such as virtual clinics.
- Review follow-up services and recommend improvements.
Financial & Resource Management:
- Support budget tracking and variance reporting.
- Ensure income is correctly assigned and track financial performance.
- Implement control measures for financial sustainability.
Human Resource Management:
- Manage administrative and support staff within the service.
- Lead on recruitment, training, and appraisal of staff.
- Monitor and manage staff absence rates.
- Ensure adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
General Management:
- Maintain effective administrative processes to optimise patient access.
- Ensure clear communication of business processes to relevant staff.
- Support access target delivery by managing consultant leave and capacity.
- Investigate patient complaints, analyse root causes, and recommend improvements.
