Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ophthalmic Technician to work in the Ophthalmology Department at the University Hospital North Midlands NHS Trust. The department treats patients with a number of Ophthalmology conditions, including medical retina, diabetes, macula and glaucoma.

Working as part of a friendly modern environment you will perform diagnostic testing which includes using various imaging equipment and Visual Fields on adults, children and complex patients. This includes, Fundus Photography, Optical Coherence Topography and Corneal Topography. Full training will be given for all of the testing and equipment you would be required to use.

In addition to the Ophthalmology department at Royal Stoke Hospital, we also have Ophthalmology clinics at other sites within the trust including County Hospital Site in Stafford and you will be expected to work there if needed.

 

Main duties of the job

Computer skills will be required and full training will be given on the different software programmes that are used currently within the trust.

An Ophthalmic Technician’s hours are worked flexibly between Monday –Friday, 08.30- 19.30, according to service needs

  • Proficient in the use of Computers including Microsoft office: Word, Excel & Power point
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above ( or equivalent)
