Main duties of the job

Nottingham University Hospitals Trust is a large university teaching hospital serving a local population of 675,000 and has a Renal Transplantation catchment area of 1.79 million. The emergency department based on the Queens Medical Campus is one of the busiest in Europe. As a major teaching Trust, NUH enjoys close links with the city’s universities and attracts and develops the highest calibre of staff. The renal and transplant unit currently supports around 750 prevalent transplant patients and over 450 dialysis patients. We have established programmes for peritoneal and home haemodialysis, and three satellite dialysis units. We average around 80-90 transplants per year. Our unit thrives on a strong multidisciplinary culture and has been at the forefront of many national and international initiatives. There is a strong base and foundation for clinical research. Nottingham is the regional centre for paediatric nephrology. Nottingham Renal Unit also provides renal services at Kings Mill hospital in Mansfield.
