Job overview
We seek to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM). This post would suit an individual with either a CCT in cardiology sub-specialising in CRM or a trainee within their final two years of CRM sub-specialty training (OOPE).
Suitably qualified candidates will participate mainly in the department’s cardiac implantable electrical device (CIED) program. The CIED program is comprehensive and includes conventional transvenous and leadless bradycardia pacing, conventional and sub-cutaneous ICD implants, CRT and conduction system pacing. The electrophysiology program includes simple and complex ablation (left atrial ablation, abnormal heart ventricular tachycardia ablation).There is a lead extraction service and an inherited cardiac conditions service run in collaboration with the Clinical Genetics department. There will be opportunity to participate in departmental research activities and the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their own research activity.
Main duties of the job
All inpatients cardiology beds are based at the City Hospital site. It consists of a 20-bed Acute Cardiac Unit based on Morris Ward in the TCC, a 32-bed Level 1 ward (Papplewick) and a 22-bed low dependency ward (Patience 1). Cardiologists conduct daily ward rounds supported by resident doctors (SpR, Fellow, IMT, FY2, FY1) across all cardiology inpatient areas and admission wards. A number of patients are also transferred from surrounding hospitals for further management of acute coronary syndromes, cardiac arrhythmia and other cardiac conditions

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
NUH is designated as a Regional Heart Attack centre and has provided a 24-hour primary angioplasty service since 2010. Non-coronary structural interventions currently undertaken include transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), patent foramen ovale closures, post infarct VSD closure, paravalvar leak closure, mitral valvuloplasty, left atrial appendage closure and mitral transcatheter edge to edge repair.
Non-invasive cardiac imaging is well established across both campuses and includes echocardiography, radionuclide scans, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, and cardiac CT.

- At least 3 years general medical experience post qualification and appropriate experience in cardiology
- CCT in cardiology sub-specialising in CRM or a trainee within their final two years of CRM sub-specialty training (OOPE).

- Experience of audit
Skills and Aptitude
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in permanent pacing. Competency in basic echocardiography. CPR, CV line insertion, Temporary and permanent Cardiac Pacing, and Pleural taps etc.
- Experience in exercise testing. Manual dexterity Well versed with acute general medicine. Demonstrable awareness of main developments in cardiology
Desirable criteria
- Exposure to complex device (CRT & ICD) implantation and follow-up. Exposure to EP-ablation procedures
- Certified provider in ALS
