Job overview

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Specialist Therapist/Therapy Team Leader to join our dedicated SFH outpatient therapy team at Mansfield Community Hospital!

This 9-month position is to cover maternity leave and offers a fantastic chance for a Band 6 therapist eager to enhance their leadership skills within a supportive and dynamic team environment.

As the successful candidate, you will play a pivotal role as a clinical lead therapist and team leader, overseeing both neurological outpatient therapy and the Sherwood Rehabilitation team. Your expertise in neurological rehabilitation will be crucial in influencing and inspiring others, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A broad understanding of the current local and national issues impacting on the Trust and service provision.
  • A substantial, broad clinical knowledge around the core medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions in the ‘acute’, secondary care environment, and skilled in applying therapy frameworks
  • Modernisation Agenda for the NHS re new ways of working
  • Excellent leadership and communication knowledge and skills
  • Computer literate with skill in using databases/spreadsheets and powerpoint
Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of Health and Social Care Policy

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc/diploma in occupational therapy or physiotherapy
  • Practice placement educator / APPLE accredited
  • Registered with the HPC
  • Member of Professional body

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post graduate clinical experience, most recently working as a senior therapist which includes leadership and management experience
  • Can lead change and is able to demonstrate implementation of new ways of working within the team
  • Proven experience of being an appraisor and supervisor of clinical staff
  • Recruitment and selection of staff

Contractual Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Participate in the therapy managers rota when required
  • Flexible hours of working / weekend working when required
  • Ability to travel between Kings Mill Hospital and Newark Hospital
Desirable criteria
  • Car Driver

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • Specialty specific clinical and management short courses (add as required)
  • Leadership training
  • Supervision skills course
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or part ECDL
  • NVQ assessor
