To work at Colchester Hospital.
To focus on operationally supporting the Hospital to expedite patients home through patient transport.
The post holder will be expected to efficiently liaise with internal teams at Hospital and the Non-Emergency Control room.
The post holder will be an integrated member of the transport team, maintaining the crucial link between ED, Acute Care Units, wards, clinics and the site team.
(If not already trained to ACA standard) To support you in the role you will need to undertake a 3 week course, involving 2 weeks clinical training and 1 week driver training to enable you to support service delivery, to be qualified in the role to conduct home access assessments, patient mobility assessments to ensure we provide the appropriate transport You will be required to pass all elements of the clinical & driving course to enable you to undertake the role.
It is your responsibility to attend in full, on each day. Accommodation and travel expenses during the training period will be provided for those who are eligible, however, if you are applying for a BANK position, you are not eligible for accommodation and travel expenses. You will need to consider the costs and travel expense of attending training venues (usually Welwyn Garden City).
Main duties of the job
The role is to provide proactive and responsive practical and administrative support to ensure the efficient booking of transport for non-emergency patients travelling to/from healthcare settings.
To supervise the running of day to day discharges and be EEAST's on site lead managing and prioritising demand during busy periods, whilst complying with Hospital Site expectations.

Alert appropriate colleagues within both the hospital and EEAST organisation to anticipated difficulties relating to transport for patients being discharged or transferred and assist in resolution of the same.
