Secondment Opportunity

The post holder will need to have skills to safely coordinate, 26 patients. Attend meetings in ward manager absence and communicate effectively  to the team, patients and the wider trust . **Candidates will need at least 3 years post qualification experience due to the post being fixed term.**

To support our robust training standards to deliver safe effective care using. Utilise audits to identify areas of success and improvements to be made.

Assist in supporting a diverse team in day to day actives following and upholding safe standards of care and work inline with  policies and procedures .  

Main duties of the job

Assessment, planning and implementation of care to 26 neurosurgical patients, within our speciality of Oncology/Hydrocephalus but this also expands to other remits within neurosurgery.

 Clinical Audits and action plans Supporting sickness policy and HR

Undertaking ward based education and planning training and education to team Interact and support with complaint and concerns

Escalate ward issues appropriately.

Support and build a rapport with ward staff.

Ensure safe practice high standards

Support and enhance patient flow.

Provide safe evidence based practice.

Ensure that the team promote, ensure and adhere to the Trust safeguarding polices.

 Undertake effective multi professionally work with colleagues to deliver care.

Coordinate specialist functions, including making clinical decisions where appropriate.

 Monitor quality of standards of care, in line with CQC requirements and Trust and Divisional objective.

Deliver and supervise a high quality patient experience.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 1st level Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Relevant degree or working towards /equivalent experience.
  • Holds or working towards recognised teaching/mentorship qualification.
  • At least 3 years post qualification experience
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in this specialty

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant relevant clinical experience at Band 5 (or above).
  • Student nurse assessor.
  • Relevant teaching qualification/skills.
  • Evidence of ability to act as a preceptor/mentor to new staff.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of involvement in producing teaching strategies/packages.
