Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic Band 8a Advanced Pharmacist, Technical Services to join our friendly, motivated and forward thinking team at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, working in our new build, state of the art , MHRA licensed aseptic production unit. As a member of our senior team  you will have the opportunity to showcase your leadership abilities as we develop further batches through our vHP isolators, delivering increased activity for our Trust and patients.

The working pattern will be 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of our senior team, supporting the Principal Pharmacist Technical Services, ensure the provision of a comprehensive service supplying systemic anti-cancer agents to patients in the Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network and beyond.  

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic cancer hospital pharmacy team. The successful candidate will;

  • Lead aspects of the Quality Management System in collaboration with the Quality Lead
  • Actively participate in the project to develop batches made in the vapourised hydrogen peroxide isolators
  • Provide leadership and education to our team of junior pharmacists working within aseptic services

The successful applicant must have technical services experience but experience in oncology is not required.

The postholder will be part of a fabulous, friendly team of pharmacist prescribers, medicines management technicians, specialist pharmacists, technicians and assistants. We have close links with BOPA and LJMU.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good change management
  • Good pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Knowledge of changing NHS environment & government initiatives
  • Good knowledge of GMP
  • Good knowledge of QA/QC
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of managing a changing situation
  • Knowledge of current & future developments in cancer treatment.
  • Knowledge of working with MHRA, regional QA/QC

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven post qualification hospital experience
  • Experience of working in aseptic unit.
Desirable criteria
  • Supervisory role in aseptic unit

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Master of Pharmacy or equivalent
  • GPhC registered
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Oncology related qualification diploma
  • Management qualification
