Job overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our innovative CAMHS team. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist or someone looking to take their next step from an 8A to 8B development post If taken on as development role you would be supported to develop competencies to work fully into a principal clinical psychology role over/up to two year period. The expectation would be for the post holder to fully progress via a process of supported development and evaluation to reach the expected level of competency for an 8b psychologist. This would be supported by the 8c lead psychologist in the team.
Manchester Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services work with Children and Young People from 5 to 18 years with a wide range of complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will have an integral role in developing and supporting the pathway into CAMHS. The postholder will offer supervision, consultation and training to members of the team.
The postholder will carry a caseload and play a role in developing and integrating intervention pathways.

Main duties of the job
This post is open to experienced Clinical Psychologists and other eligible practitioners with the appropriate qualifications/experience. Significant experience of working in the delivery of psychological services in CAMHS and eligibility for HCPC Registration is essential.
As a senior highly specialist Clinical Psychologist/Equivalent Psychological Practitioner with substantial senior clinical experience and post-qualification training, the post-holder will work alongside other senior staff to provide leadership to support the systematic delivery of a high-quality specialist clinical psychology/psychological service to children, young people and families in South Manchester, in the context of a comprehensive and integrated CAMHS.
To support the leadership team in representing clinical psychology/psychological services and CAMHS in South Manchester in multiagency development groups relating to community and primary care services. To support the leadership team in non-clinical activity by proposing and implementing policy changes for South Manchester CAMHS.
Effective working relationships are essential at all levels and with multiple stakeholders, in South Manchester CAMHS (with core colleagues and those in specialist/targeted CAMHS), Children’s Services, Community Health, Education and other partner agencies.

Registration and qualifications
Essential criteria
- You must be registered/accredited with a professional body. e.g. HCPC,
- Diploma, masters, doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a clinical psychologist.
Desirable criteria
- Masters level qualification or equivalent (including evidence of working towards this level)
- Formal Teaching and Assessing Certificate/Qualification
- Clinical supervisor qualification/training/accreditation.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families across the age range with a full range of presenting problems and across settings including community, outpatient and clinic settings
- Experience of maintaining effective working relationships and of clearly communicating service-related information to senior managers and key stakeholders
- Experience of offering a cognitive behavioural approach.
- Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Experience of case management, including experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
- Experience of teaching, training and supervision.
- Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals.
- Knowledge of legislation and national guidance in relation to the needs of children.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of the application of CAMHS in different cultural contexts.
- Experience of working autonomously as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience in working in developing services.
- Working knowledge of professional systems involved in community settings
Skills
Essential criteria
- Skills in the use of complex methods of CAMHS l assessment, intervention and management in work with children and families.
- Ability to integrate CAMHS theories and outcome data with clinical practice and service provision.

- Ability to cope with stressful interpersonal situations including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
- Good skills in communicating with children, parents and colleagues.
Education and Supervision

- Experience in teaching and training staff from other professional groups.
- Experience in designing, planning and undertaking clinical research/service evaluation.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

- Experience of teaching, training and supervision of students/assistant/ trainee clinical psychologists/ medical students.
