Job overview

Stockport Pharmaceuticals is a purpose built facility at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, incorporating sterile and non-sterile manufacture and aseptic preparation units.

We offer an expert, professional service developing and manufacturing pharmaceutical unlicensed medicines to NHS, community pharmacy, private health care and industry organisations.

We are licensed to operate under

  • MHRA Manufacturer’s “Specials” Licence (MS 13523)
  • MHRA Manufacturer’s Importers Authorisation “MIA” Licence (MIA 13523)
  • MHRA Investigational Medicinal Products licence (MIA(IMP) 13523)

An opportunity has a risen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Stockport Pharmaceuticals Quality Assurance team based at Stockport NHS Foundation trust.  The position available is for a Quality Assurance Technical Officer.

 

Main duties of the job

Job Summary:

 

  • To assist the Quality Assurance team in the maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality System
  • Develops and maintains specialist knowledge of processes, procedures and standards pertinent to aseptic services and pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • To adhere to the principles of cGMP, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as applied to licensed activities within aseptic services

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Pharmacy or a related scientific/healthcare discipline OR equivalent experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Wide knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice applied to the manufacture of medicines.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of legislation applied to “Specials” manufacture
  • Knowledge of the principles associated with quality control analysis of starting materials and finished products
  • Knowledge of Cleanroom design
  • Knowledge of the principles of audit.
  • Knowledge of legislation applied to the manufacture of Investigational Medicinal Products

Skills

Desirable criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to contribute to problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Keen eye for attention to detail
  • Good IT Skills
  • Ability to receive and process complex information for onward verbal and/or written communication to Quality Control and pharmaceutical colleagues

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a licensed manufacturing facility
  • Experience in the quality assurance of batches manufactured in licensed facilities (Specials and/or Investigational Medicinal Products/commercial products)
  • Analytical experience within a Quality Control laboratory
  • Experience of environmental monitoring
