Job overview

This is a full time 12 month post, which will be based in the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences at Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation trust.

At present there are over 35 full or part time neurologists, serving the conurbation with specialist interests in dementia, muscle disorders, peripheral nerve, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, neurovascular, sleep, headache, neurogenetics and neuro-ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Clinical Fellow work at a “middle grade” level and will have responsibilities to the acute neurology unit, liaison neurology service and the neurology outpatient clinics (potentially at a nearby district general hospital where SCO provide the neurology service) on a rotational basis.  They will be involved in the ward care of patients as part of the department’s acute neurology ‘attending team’ and ‘liaison team’.

This is a dedicated acute neurology service, based at Salford Royal Hospital, led by a team of consultant neurologists. The post also includes opportunities to see ward referrals at other hospital sites.  In addition they will have supervised outpatient responsibilities, involving seeing new and follow up patients.
