Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Medical Endoscopist at Salford Endoscopy Unit.
Our Unit comprises of 4 Endoscopy suites, with use of Radiology for Interventional radiology and Theatres. Salford Royal Hospital has a large Gastroenterology Department; there are 15 consultant gastroenterologists with specialist interests spanning all aspects of Gastrointestinal (GI) and HPB disease.
The department is regional tertiary referral centre for complex Neurogastroenterology and IBD.
In addition, the department has an established Nutrition Support Team, who work closely with the National Intestinal Failure Unit. The Gastroenterology Department has an established academic history and a large GI science department with 4 professors of gastroenterology.
We provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for all gastrointestinal conditions including disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, bowel and liver. Our endoscopy unit provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Complex polypectomy and Endoscopic Mucosal Resections are undertaken.
We perform Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography and Endoscopic Ultrasound for assessment of benign and malignant upper GI and Hepatopancreatobiliary disease.
Main duties of the job
The Non-Medical Endoscopist will work alongside the wide group of Endoscopists comprising of Gastroenterologists and Surgeons (Lower, Upper and general).
You will be expected to work independently as an expert practitioner, exercising advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in the clinical area.
You should be signed off in both upper and lower endoscopy procedures.
The successful candidate will provide expert clinical skills and advice demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of the client group.
We are looking for someone who has experience of monitoring and leading improvements to standards of care through supervision of practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. As a member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) provide specialist advice on the management of patients as delegated by the consultant team.
You will lead the implementation of relevant research into practice contributing to the further development of the evidence base through research and audit.
In addition actively contribute to clinical governance within the service by leading audit and research as part of the MDT within the area of expertise.
The post holder will be an integral part of the training and education of other endoscopists.
