Salaried Dentist - Band A
Job overview
To provide routine NHS dental treatment to patients referred to the community Dental services specialties of paediatric and special care dentistry.
Full time or part time applicants considered.
Main duties of the job
- Provide dental care to patient groups within the remit of Salford Community Dental Service and in particular those groups requiring paediatric and special care dentistry.
- Provide domiciliary care and inhalation sedation to patients referred to Salford Community Dental Service.
- Work with senior colleagues to provide care under general anaesthesia in Salford Royal hospital.
- Provide care from a range of premises.
- Responsibility for the working arrangements and standards at the clinic from which clinical services are provided
- The post holder will be expected to maintain the high standards of clinical and professional behaviour required by Salford Community Dental Service.
- Maintenance of own records of your continuing professional education and development.
- Communicate positively and affectively.
- Actively give and receive feedback in a constructive manner.
The post holder is expected to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be required to communicate and liaise with a range of individuals and groups including, senior managers at Salford Royal Hospital of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA), medical and dental consultants, primary care practitioners, other health and social professional team members, patients, and their families/ carers and the public.

Professional Registration & Qualification
Essential criteria
- BDS or equivalent
- Full registration with the GDC
- Have appropriate professional indemnity.
- Have a performer number
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous community dental service experience
- Ability to deliver inhalation sedation
- Experience of working in a primary care clinical service
- Commitment to ongoing professional training and development.
- Knowledge of word processing and database packages
- Knowledge of NHS service Regulations
- Good communication skills with experience of interaction with the public, colleagues and outside agencies
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Able to work flexibly and be prepared to adapt to circumstances as they change
- Able to work well under Pressure
Desirable criteria
- Experience of treating paediatric and special care patients
- Experience of providing care for vulnerable groups
- Experience of providing comprehensive oral care for adults and paediatric simple exodontia under general anaesthesia
- Experience and ability to administer inhalation sedation
- Experience of working in the salaried dental service
- Experience of working in General Dental Practice
