Job overview

We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our award winning admission avoidance service, Radcliffe Place, within the Pennine Care Learning Disability Hub. 

Radcliffe Place provides short-term accommodation and therapy for people with a Learning Disability, aged 16 to 25 years, from across Greater Manchester. Some people we support may also have Autism. Our team consists of different health and care professionals including a Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Team Manager and Support Workers.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is interested in pursuing a career in Psychology to gain a broad range of skills and experiences within a service which promotes person-centred and trauma informed care. 

Essential requirements for the post include: a first or upper second class honours degree in Psychology, entitlement to Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society, experience of working with individuals with a Learning Disability and the ability to demonstrate a high level of skill in terms of both verbal and written communication. 

 

Main duties of the job

The successful person will be required to undertake a range of activities under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. This will include completion of assessments and observations, planning and facilitation of therapeutic activities, participation in MDT meetings,  data collection, research and service development projects and report writing.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • First class or 2:1 honours degree in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further post graduate training or study in areas relevant to professional Psychology or research design/analysis

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of experience working with individuals with a Learning Disability
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Psychologist or Research Assistant

Skills

  • Demonstration of a high level of verbal and written communication skills
