Job overview
The post holder is responsible for delivering a comprehensive reception and administration service to the Emergency Department. The accurate collection, inputting and maintenance of data is key to this position as the post holder will be expected to work flexibly within a team to ensure that the department captures all activity data and that this data is correct. Reception duties will involve face-to-face patient contact and telephone work with some ability to assess when an individual requires immediate clinical assistance. Appropriate training will be given to assist with this. A high level of professionalism is essential and a courteous and polite approach to our client group is expected at all times. CCOs will support the department with ad-hoc administration duties and provide assistance during periods of outage/downtime.
CCOs are rostered onto 10 and 12 hour shifts providing the department with cover 24/7, therefore day, night weekend and bank holiday working is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
GENERAL STATEMENT
· To undertake and utilise to a high standard, all training in respect of Risk Management, Violence and Aggression and Major Incident.
· The post holder has a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work 1974 in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
· The post holder will carry out their duties with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policies, Standing Financial Instructions, the requirements of the Departmental Quality system and other relevant Policies of the Trust
· All employees of King’s College Hospital are required to carry out their duties with due regard to the Fair Access Policy and respect the cultural beliefs and customs held by clients and staff.
· To observe the rules, policies, procedures and standards of King's College Hospital NHS Trust together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations.
· The post holder has an important responsibility for and contribution to infection control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role. These standards must be strictly complied with at all times.
