Clinical Fellow Boutique Post in Emergency Medicine

NHS Medical & Dental: Junior Clinical Fellow

Advert

Job overview

We are looking for Junior & Senior Clinical Fellows to come and join our enthusiastic Emergency Medicine team at Homerton Hospital.

Main duties of the job

There is a range of boutique clinical fellow options available, with something to suit everyone. These comprise a split role with 80% of time spent in a clinical role in the ED, and 20% in time outside of this (or up to 40% for senior clinical fellows). This split can involve clinical time in an area related to Emergency Medicine – for example acute or ambulatory medicine, paediatric emergency medicine, O&G, sports and exercise medicine – or dedicated non-clinical time for quality improvement or patient safety projects, medical education and ultrasound. There is an exceptional opportunity for a taster post with time set aside each month to try several different options from the above list and more. These options have been very successful in the past in providing time to develop skills and gain experience and add even more variety to the rich world of Emergency Medicine. It is ideal for those looking to gain a breadth of experience and have a shiny application for ACCS.

We can accommodate less than full time posts to suit working in the way that will work best for you and can set up rotas to complement other commitments.

Working for our organisation

Homerton Healthcare Emergency Department is an inner-city unit that saw over 126,000 patients in 2023/24. We were proud to be given a rating of ‘outstanding’ for the Emergency Department from the CQC, including the following comments “The staff we spoke with were proud to work for the A&E department and felt there was a ‘can do’ attitude within the team. There were processes in place to monitor the quality of the service and respond to areas highlighted as requiring improvement. We saw that learning was shared among the staff team regarding never events, incidents and complaints within the department and across the hospital. Staff were encouraged and enabled to attend training courses and further their skills and knowledge to improve the service provided to patients.” The department is a trauma unit and was the designated hospital for receiving athletes from the 2012 Olympic Games.
