We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity for a Band 7 Adult Dietitian to join our friendly and dynamic community team as a clinical lead and make a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of the patients and families in our local borough.

 We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and confident individual with extensive dietetic experience to join us on a 1-year fixed term basis (maternity cover) as a Band 7 Clinical Lead Dietitian in the borough of Hounslow. You will provide high quality dietetic care to community paediatric patients whilst also leading the adult Dietetics service and supporting the wider dietetic team.

The Adult Community Dietetic team is responsible for providing dietetic advice in a diverse range of nutritional areas to patients and their carers in a range of settings including clinics, nursing homes and in the patients’ own homes as required.

Clinics run in various locations including Chiswick, Brentford, Feltham and Hounslow central.

The successful candidate will be fully supported by a friendly and social, adult and paediatric, community dietetic team which has a strong commitment to professional development and training. 

You will need to be able to deliver care both in person and virtually and be able to travel efficiently across the borough.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry a clinical caseload and be responsible for the provision of an effective service, providing nutritional counselling to patients/clients and carers in all clinical areas referred.
  • To ensure implementation of dietetic pathways across the team and monitor PTL list on a regular basis.
  • Lead on delivery of group sessions and the use of digital platforms for conducting virtual  dietetic consultations.
  • To lead on training for a variety of staff, and carers in a variety of settings and using a variety of teaching styles.
  • To gain acceptance with clients, parents and carers, using motivational and negotiation skills to select the appropriate treatment programme and treatment evaluation plan in accordance with local guidelines and evidence-based practice.
  • To be able to work to a high level independently whilst ensuring compliance with HPC and BDA codes of professional conduct.
  • To assist in the routine updating of diets sheets and other nutritional information produced by the Dietetic department, and to ensure that materials comply with guidelines laid down by Hounslow CCG.
  • To work as a member of the dietetic department, providing a comprehensive dietetic service to the work areas agreed and allocated. To provide expert advice to patients, carers and clinicians regarding provision of nutritional support for patients based on clinical evidence.
  • To be responsible for monitoring and review of patients to ensure safe practice through development of a caseload management plan considering risk management and the documentation and reporting of critical incidents as outlined in Trust policy.
  • To communicate and liaise with all appropriate healthcare professionals in the multidisciplinary teams regarding nutrition related prescriptions for management of malnutrition or in the dietary treatment of conditions. To also provide information, education to clinicians, patients and carers. The ability to develop and use communication and teaching skills to educate our diverse and multicultural population is essential.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc (Hons) Nutrition & Dietetic or Post Graduate Diploma / Masters level in Dietetics
  • Evidence of a range of CPD activities including in paediatrics
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Membership of British Dietetic Association

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in Dietetics
  • UK NHS experience (minimum 2+ years)
  • Paediatric dietetics relating to home enteral feeding, faltering growth, allergy and child development

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Able to work independently and take responsibility
  • Able to lead and be an active member of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
