Job overview
The post holder will utilize well developed leadership skills and specialist midwifery knowledge to:
· Provide management and leadership throughout the 24 hour period, co-ordination of the shift and managing out of hours
· Maintain adequate staffing levels, through deployment of staff
· Support staff to provide all aspects of clinical care, with a focus on promoting positive outcomes for mother and baby and the wider family
· Understanding physiological birth sharing and inspiring a birthing unit philosophy with safety always being paramount
Main duties of the job
· Provide safe and effective care to pregnant women during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum period
· Provide proactive and effective leadership
· Expert practitioner
· Work in partnership with women and their families
· Work collaboratively as a member of the Multidisciplinary team
· Highly developed communication skills in challenging situations in which there may be barriers to communication and changing circumstances
