Rotational Band 5 Occupational Therapist

The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium-sized acute and community trust with over 525 beds and over 600 community staff, serving more than 600,000 people living across Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.
The hospital has been on its present site for over 100 years and was established as an NHS trust by statute in December 1990. The Trust’s services are provided on the North Middlesex University Hospital site as well as a range of community sites across the London Borough of Enfield, including at partner hospitals. They provide services in collaboration with a range of partners, including local GPs, acute, mental health and other community health service providers across North Central London.
In the year ending 31 March 2022, the Trust reported a turnover of £419.7m and employed almost 4,000 staff. Following the transfer of Enfield Community Services on 1st April 2023, this has increased as we have welcomed over 600 new staff including District Nurses, Community Matrons, Community Physiotherapists, Psychologists and many more across a wide range of adult and children’s community services in Enfield. Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Community In-patient rehabilitation Band 5 rotation based at Magnolia unit ( Complex multipathology/ Stroke - Neuro) , Capetown ward ( general inpatient rehabilitation ) and Canterbury ward( Non- weight bearing and stepdown pathway) . There is potential to expand the rotations to cover community services in future.
Candidates will need the skills and ability to cope with fast paced environment MDT environment.
The Occupational Therapy team is part of the Integrated Therapies Service and staff benefit from a supportive environment and excellent learning opportunities though collaborative care team working.
The successful post holder will be required to participate in seven day working rota.

Main duties of the job
To provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention to all patients referred in the area of work.
To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team. To participate in clinical projects, service developments, audits and service reviews as agreed and supported by the Team Lead OT and integrated therapies lead.
To actively participate in the available rotations.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- Evidence of CPD
- HCPC registration

- Member of RCOT

- Competent IT skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to actively contribute to, and work within an MDT
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
- Ability to work at a moderate to high levels of physical activity including the involvement in manual therapy, therapeutic handling of patients and the assessment, demonstration and provision/installation of specialist equipment and/or minor adaptations.
- Ability to work within Trust and Department guidelines and policies including equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the needs of the patients and colleagues.

- Awareness of the MCA and role of cognition in OT interventions

Experience
Essential criteria
- Undergraduate experience of working in a variety of healthcare settings
- Experience of OT assessment and intervention with patients in a physical acute, rehab and/or community setting (e.g. medical, surgical, orthopaedic or neurological patients across the lifespan).
- Experience of continuing professional development Knowledge of the occupational therapy process and application for clinical practice
- Knowledge of models of OT practice and practical application
- Knowledge and understanding of evidence based practice.
- Awareness of group working
- Awareness of the role of OT within a physical rehabilitation setting
- Awareness of recent NHS legislation, recommendations, NICE guidelines
