Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to work at a Band 8a level within the Trust Safeguarding Adult Team. The successful post holder will be pivotal in supporting staff and safeguarding patients in our care.
Main duties of the job
Specific responsibility of the role will be to act as lead for safeguarding adult at risk issues across the Trust and working closely with multiple agencies in setting, reviewing and developing protocols of care for the safe management of adults at risk. The post holder will act as a local expert and have an enhanced knowledge and experience of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2007, Human Rights Act 1998 and the PREVENT agenda.

Education/ Qualification/ Training
Essential criteria
- • Educated to degree
- • Registered Nurse, Social Worker or registered Allied Health Professional.
- • Experience of working as a manager/senior practitioner in an adult health or social care related setting
- • ENB 997/998, mentorship or equivalent training qualification
Desirable criteria
- • Completed research in the area of safeguarding Adults /Domestic Abuse prior to commencement in the post
- • Adult safeguarding supervision skills training
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Multi –agency working across a range of partnerships.
- • Designing and delivering training to large audiences.
- • Experience of integrating ‘Lessons Learnt’ through Adult Safeguarding Process into operational practice and guidance.
- • Supporting staff to undertake adult safeguarding enquiries.
- • Experience of case managing and supervising adult workforce in a health or social care setting
- • Training of health care professionals
- • Policy development and implementation
- • Post registration experience
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of delivering and receiving adult safeguarding supervision.
- • Experience of taking a lead on safeguarding adults issues within a registered setting/service. The latter will include carrying our enquiries under S42 Care Act 2014
- • Previous involvement with Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SAR’s) under S44 Care Act 2014
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- • Knowledge of Legislation, Government guidance and policies relating to safeguarding adults including domestic violence, modern slavery and human trafficking.
- • Knowledge of Care Act 2014, Human Rights Act
- • Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
- • Knowledge of Clinical Governance
- • Knowledge and experience of research, development and application to practice
- • To be able to work effectively with partner agencies
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- • Have a good range of computer skills e.g. use of Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
- • Ability to interpret policies and guidance and initiate action
- • Ability to write reports, IMRs, Chronologies policies and protocols for the Trust
- • Ability to work as part of a team
- • Ability to self-motivate and to motivate others
- • Ability to audit, monitor and evaluate complex systems, produce report and feedback findings at the appropriate meetings as required
