Job overview
The Spalding Community Mental Health Team is committed to empowering those experiencing severe and complex mental health problems to regain personal autonomy and a sense of active control over their experiences that enables them to return to a full and active life in accordance fulfilling their personal aspirations.
In order to support individuals in achieving this the team provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary bio-psychosocial assessment and case management. It forms part of the Spalding & South Lincolnshire Locality mental health provision and is actively engaged in the community mental health transformation agenda. We are also actively working to develop the range of effective and evidence based social, and psychologically informed trauma informed interventions. We are seeking to establish both an open dialogue approach and the use of Maastricht principals within our practice. The successful candidates’ values and enthusiasm will be in keeping with this transformation.
The team seeks to be an environment in which all staff actively contribute to decision making and development.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the planning, and implementation of evidence based interventions in collaboration with a defined group of service users and their social networks.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of collaborative, trauma informed, strengths based intervention, focussing on the goals and aspirations of the individual and their social network.
To identify clear recovery focussed goals utilising Iroc, the HOPE toolkit and other appropriate measures to guide the teams interventions.
To empower individuals and their social networks, utilising their strengths in order to achieve their recovery.
To work collaboratively with partner agencies across the wider health and social care locality provision in order to meet the needs of social networks.
To act as a designated Lead Healthcare Professional ensuring up to date collaborative care plans, risk assessments and reviews are in place.
To provide high quality learning and development opportunities for both colleagues and students.
To contribute to the maintenance of a psychologically safe environment in which the diverse views and experience of all valued and utilised.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To engage in comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment of the needs, strengths and goals of the individual and their social networks.
To identify clear recovery focussed goals utilising Iroc, the HOPE toolkit and other appropriate measures to guide the teams interventions.
To facilitate collaborative interventions with individuals and their social networks in order to promote their empowerment, recovery and wellbeing.
Comply with and carry out safe practice in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, appropriate Codes of Conduct, the Mental Health Act (1983) and other relevant national and local guidance commenting on policies, procedures and developments as necessary.
To deliver interventions to promote the individuals physical health and wellbeing.
To provide both formal and informal education and health promotion to the individual and their social network regarding their mental health needs.
To actively participate in the delivery of training opportunities for staff and students, including those from other teams and disciplines.
To provide high quality practice placement education for students acting as mentor as required.
To contribute to the maintenance of a psychologically safe environment in which the voice, skills and experience of all are valued and nurtured.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RMN or RNLD or RN with 1 st Level Registration NMC or degree or equivalent. Or Registered Occupational Therapist or Registered Social Worker with HCPC
- ENB998 / FliPS or equivalent
- Mentorship Module (degree level)
- Evidence of specialised continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice
Desirable criteria
- Management training
- CBT, DBT or other relevant psychological therapy training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience of working with adults with mental health needs and evidence of working with individuals in crisis
- Experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental illnesses
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Experience working within community mental health settings
Skills
Essential criteria
- Sound knowledge of national agenda for mental health.
- Highly developed clinical reasoning skills.
- Sound knowledge of clinical/risk assessment and understanding of Information Goverance principles
- Highly developed communication skills.
- Delegation whilst maintaining overall responsibility for patients care, where appropriate
- Demonstrate the ability to lead a clinical team.
- Highly motivated & able to engage with people accessing the service & their carers to improve outcomes.
- Ability to work independently and collectively.

- Able to travel around the county independently and in a timely manner
