We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our Older Adult CMHT at Witham Court as a Medical Secretary for the Lincoln North and Gainsborough team .

We are seeking to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, experienced and dynamic Medical Secretary to our existing established and effective team. The Team carries a caseload of Functional and Dementia patients, and is supported by a full time Consultant Psychiatrist and a full time Speciality Doctor. 

The post will entail supporting our Medical Team who will be undertaking diagnosis following assessment by the CMHT Practitioners following the Divisional pathways and protocols.

We hold a weekly MDT meeting and aim to provide timely diagnosis, support and decision making which facilitates optimal management and life outcomes for those in need.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support  to the Consultant and Medical Staff and assist in the organisation of their workload.

The ability to demonstrate initiative and provide cross cover/support to the existing Medical Secretary will be crucial to facilitate effective service function. The medical secretary faces a challenging range of tasks including acting as a personal assistant to Consultant Psychiatrist and other medics other medical professions. You will be required to support the coordination of team working.  Having a positive, enthusiastic and “can do” attitude with a strong work ethic is important.

You must have excellent communication skills, with a good level of competency in Microsoft Office 365 packages. Knowledge of RiO would be advantageous. You will need to support with the scheduling of the weekly MDT ,to ensure letters are typed and sent promptly. You will also be required at times to liaise with GP's and carers over the phone or via digital means, using Microsoft teams.

There is an expectation for the Medical Secretaries to provide cover for one another during leave and/or periods of sickness.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to take and produce formal minutes of a variety of meetings in both face to face settings and remotely
  • Substantial experience in senior PA role and working with senior level staff including experience of using audio/copying typing.
  • Experience of coordinating and delegating work and reviewing peoples’ performance
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of people with mental health problems
  • Experience of working as part of a team in a busy office
  • Diary Management including electronic diary management
  • Previous experience in a medical or NHS setting
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act
  • Customer Care CPA Overview

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English Grade A-C or 9-4 or level 2 Literacy.
  • RSA III Typing and Audio or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • NVQ 4 Business Administration or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • AMSPAR
  • Medical Terminology Certificate or experience
  • Diploma in Medical Secretarial Studies.
  • Shorthand skills
