Paediatric Respiratory Outpatient Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist
NHS AfC: Band 7
AI tools like chatbots and virtual assistants can support you as you complete your application. For example, they can check for spelling or grammar errors, or help you to decide what to include.
But they shouldn’t replace your own responses or be used to write the application for you.
Relying too much on AI can negatively impact your chances of success, because automatically generated answers:
- might not be specific or relevant enough to address the criteria in the recruitment profile
- often seem generic and not personalised enough – an AI response won’t show your unique voice and perspective
- could misrepresent information about you, such as your qualifications, skills and experience
We monitor applications for any behaviour that could create an unfair advantage, and we check all references carefully. You are likely to be tested on your experience at interview, so be honest and make sure all the information in your application is correct.
Job overview
Paediatric Respiratory Outpatient Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist
(Band 7)
Up to 37.5 hours per week
Are you a respiratory paediatric physiotherapist looking for an exciting new challenge? An opportunity has arisen for an experienced respiratory paediatric physiotherapist to join the Paediatric Therapy Team to provide respiratory care to our non admitted patients in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The role will involve holding an individual outpatient caseload of respiratory patients as well as supporting respiratory specialties by attending clinics and MDTs as required. This post joins our Outpatient Group of MSK, Rheumatology, CEW, CF, Difficult Asthma and PCD and makes possible a smaller group of respiratory outpatient specialties, which will support each other and work together to ensure high quality care and staff development.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, highly experienced and competent Respiratory Paediatric Physiotherapist with a commitment to patient focused care, maintaining their CPD/ specialist skills and who can work flexibly which may include evenings and weekends as necessary.
You will continue to develop and evaluate your role to ensure that patients are provided with high quality and appropriate evidence-based care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the provision of paediatric respiratory outpatient physiotherapy within the Therapy Department and support the team leader in the maintenance of the corresponding waiting list.
To be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a complex, paediatric caseload of children (0-15yrs, or 18yrs with special needs) using enhanced clinical decision-making skills.
Experience in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of children’s respiratory disorders is essential.
The respiratory specialties operate from UHL sites as well as from other locations across the LLR system, e.g. Loughborough, and travel will be required between these sites to support physiotherapy provision to these teams.
Working for our organisation
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
- high-quality care for all,
- being a great place to work,
- partnerships for impact, and
- research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
- we are compassionate,
- we are proud,
- we are inclusive, and
- we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
