Job overview
We are looking an enthusiastic and experienced Radiographer or Medical Technologist to join our busy and friendly Nuclear Medicine teams at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. We have vacancies for both full and part time positions. The Nuclear Medicine service receives approximately 3000 referrals every year. You must have exceptional standards and consistently deliver the highest quality patient-focused care.
Our Nuclear departments have two GE Discovery SPECT/CT systems, which are staffed by 10 Radiographers / Technologists and 3 Consultant Radiologists. Advanced practice is encouraged and we undertake Radiographer-led cardiac stressing. Cross-site working will be part of the role.
The core working hours of the department are 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and a flexible approach to working patterns is essential. Maidstone Hospital is a large Oncology centre and many of the patients are referred for NM imaging and treatments. We also undertake cardiac and general imaging and therapies. We are the first centre in Kent to offer radium-223 therapy. Pembury hospital is a modern PFI and carries out all aspects of general nuclear medicine including paediatrics
Main duties of the job
Radiography students from Canterbury Christchurch University College have clinical placements within the departments and the successful candidate will be involved in student training

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(R) or Nuclear medicine equivalent
- HCPC registration or MTO equivalent
- Post-Graduate qualification in NM (or willingness to work towards this in a satisfactory time frame)
- Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
- Working towards Advanced Practice Qualification eg, NM reporting / cardiac stressing
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Broad Radiographic experience
- Experience in a clinical Nuclear Medicine Department, ideally in the NHS or UK private sector (less would be considered for a band 5 position)
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to work under own initiative
- Ability to take responsibility for the delivery and development of NM
- Ability to analyse complex information and action appropriately
- Excellent organisational skills
- Leadership & teaching skills
- Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures
- Good understanding of Clinical Governance
Desirable criteria
- Sufficient experience to deputise for the Superintendent Radiographer
