Outpatients is an integral part of the patient journey and provides support for ENT and Head and Neck Cancer.  This is a busy department that will provide an exciting opportunity to an individual who wants to develop their professional role.

We are looking for a dynamic leader who will:

  • Lead by example
  • Effectively manage and co-ordinate the department
  • Maintain safety of the department
  • Ensure governance processes are in place and monitored
  • Manage the team and well-being of staff
  • Demonstrate a vision for the future service model
  • Educate and support the team

You will need to demonstrate working at a higher level of management or as a band 6 .

This is to cover the unit managers Maternity Leave.

Main duties of the job

You will operationally manage and support designated daily activity within the outpatients department of the Ear, Eye and Mouth Unit  (EEMU)  and TWH ENT outpatients unit. 

You, together with the lead Matron , Matron , Clinical director, Consultants  and the business management team to lead on service developments within the ENT outpatients services, to improve the  quality  of service provision and patient care .

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date had been agreed.

Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email [email protected] if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse Adult Branch educated to Diploma / Degree /Masters level
  • Evidence of continuing personal development
  • Willingness to develop clinically, managerially and professionally
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship/Preceptorship course (or equivalent)
  • Working toward master’s level qualification
  • ENT Qualification /experience
  • Nurse Prescriber

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant Out Patient services experience
  • Broad experience of ENT and understanding of working within protocol led services
  • Working knowledge of research and development
  • Experience of managing a large team
Desirable criteria
  • Participates in nurse led ENT service delivery
  • Participates within Research and Development forum
  • Evidence of project management
