We're looking for a dynamic and innovative communications professional who has a passion for the NHS. This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the confidence to work autonomously and proactively in a small and friendly team.

Support the Communications and Engagement teams in the implementation of a strategy and plan aligned to the Trust’s aims and objectives

Support the Communications and Engagement teams to ensure our story is told in a compelling and effective way

Support the Communications Team in the production and delivery of engaging internal communications by producing internal communications e-bulletins and intranet content

Create engaging, inspiring and innovative content for social media and other digital platforms, including graphics and video

Manage the day to day updates of the Trust’s website and intranet with content that complies with digital accessibility requirements

Develop impactful and concise content for external communications purposes

Support content development for various publications, including News@Medway

Monitor social media, website, intranet and internal communications channels. Produce reports on the performance of our digital channels

Use analytics to understand the impact of Trust communications and inform improvements across all internal and external channels

Ensure consistent use of the Trust’s brand and compliance with brand guidelines

Build effective relationships with a range of internal stakeholders

Build relationships with colleagues in partner and external stakeholder organisations

Organisation of and attendance at events for staff and external stakeholders

Support the team in handling media enquiries

Administration of the Communications and Engagement team’s procurement processes

Other ad-hoc communications and administration tasks to support the Communications and Engagement teams and Director of Communications and Engagement.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in communications or journalism-related subject, or equivalent level work experience.

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of current issues affecting the NHS
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements for digital content
  • Understanding of the need for strictest confidentiality

Experience

  • Experience of writing for a range of audiences, including staff, external stakeholders and the public
  • Experience of working in a high profile organisation and fast-paced communications environment
  • Experience of developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of using digital and social media to engage with audiences
  • Experience of organising high-profile events to staff and / or stakeholders
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a high-pressurised environment

Skills

  • Ability to communicate information in a professional, engaging, accurate and readable manner in a variety of formats, including digital content, newsletters, news stories, and targeted at a range of audiences
  • Demonstrable technical knowledge of IT systems and software programmes including: • Office 365 programmes • Graphic design software eg Canva, Adobe InDesign • Video editing software eg Adobe Premiere Pro • Photo editing software eg Photoshop • Website content management systems and content creation software
  • Creative and idea generation skills for successful delivery of engaging content
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to judge and manage contentious and sensitive situations
  • Ability to set and manage own priorities, manage time well and juggle multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key staff at all levels
  • Team player with flexibility to support delivery of an excellent communications service
  • Strong administrative skills
