Locum Consultant Neuro-otologist Surgeon

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Applicants should have a CCT. The candidate should be able to demonstrate that they have received training in Otology and lateral skull base surgery such as having undertaken a period of Fellowship training.

This is a 1 year fixed term locum consultant post and that the trust is strongly committed to appointing a substantive post in the future.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their competence to communicate in spoken and written English.

Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that candidates should provide confirmation of this from the relevant College or Faculty in the United Kingdom and attach the confirmation to your application.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Individuals wishing to apply must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).

The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.

Qualifications, Training & Experience

Essential criteria

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
GMC registration with a licence to practise
Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or equivalent
Higher Qualification in specialty i.e., FRCS
Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
Experience of multidisciplinary working in MDTs and surgical teams

Desirable criteria

Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Otolaryngology
Postgraduate degree
Wide experience in ENT
Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
Post CCT Fellowship

Aptitudes and skills

Essential criteria

Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
Undertake clinical and teaching sessions to core trainees
Publications in per-reviewed journals
Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in Otology and Lateral skull base Surgery
ommitment to Continuing Medical Education and the requirements of Clinical Governance and Audit
Ability to supervise postgraduate research
