Job overview
We are currently recruiting for a cook to join our established Facilities Team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of a high quality, nutritional, catering service; preparing, cooking, and serving all types of meals and snacks for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers, applying daily menu choices, ensuring delivery to all of a nourished, well-balanced diet.
This role will predominantly be located at our Little Havens Hospice in Thundersley, however, there may be an occasional requirement to work in our Fair Havens Hospice located near Priory Park in Southend on Sea.
The hours for this role will be Monday to Friday 1400 - 1800, but candidates should be aware that these working hours are subject to change with notice.
Main duties of the job
To liaise with patients and their families, giving guidance on meal selections reflecting their dietary requirements across both Havens Hospices sites.

- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

- Experience of dealing with special dietary requirements

Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience in working within the kitchen of an organisation, preparing and handling food
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good level of IT Skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Excel and Outlook

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
