Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Deputy Sister with proven acute hospital experience to work within Gynaecology department.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic nurse who is motivated and has a passion for delivering high quality care to join our small but friendly team.
This is full time, fixed term/secondment post until 30/11/2025.
Main duties of the job
· Assumes responsibility, as delegated by the Ward Sister, for the management of both human and financial resources, within the department in an effective and efficient manner, liaising with speciality matron, Service Manager and Associate Director as required.
· Use clinical expertise and work in a collaborative way to extend the role of nursing to meet the needs of the patient, carer and family. (Delivery of care in accordance with Working in New Ways guidelines.
· Acts as a role model to develop and encourage harmonious working relationships and professional rapport within the department and with other disciplines, departments and external agencies.
· Adopts a team leadership style that motivates and empowers staff in attaining and developing high standards of patient care and professional development.
· Ensures that the communication system with patients flows with current information to and from hospital meetings, link nurses forums and greater healthcare economy for all ward staff.
· Ensures compliance with all Trust policies local and legal requirements relating to clinical care and Health & Safety.

- Experience in an acute hospital setting

- Colposcopy, PMB and ambulatory clinic experience

- Previous experience at Band 6
- Evidence of teaching/assessing
- Evidence of involvement in research and audit
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse First level
- Post registration qualification relevant to area up to post graduate diploma level
- ILS certificate as relevant to the area
Desirable criteria
- Nursing/Management degree
- NVQ assessors qualification
