Associate Practitioner Respiratory -Pulmonary rehab,  Spirometry and COPD and Oxygen

The Respiratory  team is expanding and looking for a band 4 Associate Practitioner to join their team. We are looking for someone to assist the team in the service delivery and management of patients with Respiratory conditions within the Mid Essex area, by providing high quality evidence based care to meet the health and social care needs of the population. Involved in working across the service, running pulmonary rehabilitation classes, working with the oxygen team taking capillary blood gases, assisting with virtual respiratory ward and undertaking spirometry as part of the diagnostic service.

 

Main duties of the job

The aim of the team is to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients in a community setting with an emphasis on people at risk of admission to secondary care, as well as assessing and treating respiratory  patients, taking pulmonary rehabilitation classes. 

The purpose of the role is to  support the Respiratory team to ensure that effective, sympathetic and individualised pathways of patient care. 

The successful candidate will be involved in Pulmonary rehabilitation, Oxygen assessment, Spirometry and assist with the virtual respiratory ward.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Help with assessment for Respiratory Patients in clinics, in their own homes and at Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Responsibilities for ensuring patients receive high standards of care.
  • Evaluating clinical care and acting upon the outcomes of evaluation.
  • To maintain a portfolio of evidence of clinical skills, competency-based assessments  underpinning theoretical knowledge demonstrating self-development and participation in continuous and post-basic education, as laid down by the NMC
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, family and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Work collaboratively across the health, social and voluntary sectors to ensure patients’ care is of a high standard.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

Essential criteria
  • Higher National Certificate or Diploma or Foundation Degree or Diploma in Higher Education or NVQ level 3 with additional learning via undertaking short courses to Diploma level or Relevant demonstrable experience to Diploma Level.
Desirable criteria
  • Up to date basic life support training
  • Experience of pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

WORK RELATED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the role of the associate practitioner in community
  • Clinical skills and competency relevant to the role
  • Knowledge of the management of Respiratory Patients
  • Understand issues regarding accountability and delegation
  • Able to assess the patients and plan the treatment with support from a regulated practitioner, if needed
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of computerised clinical systems
  • Knowledge of national policies and local policies and guidelines
  • IT skills to enter read coded data and run reports

SKILLS & APTITUDES

Essential criteria
  • 2 years previous experience working within health care.
  • Experience working under indirect supervision.
  • Understanding of basic human needs- physical, emotional, health and social
  • Experience working with children or young people

  • Ability to work virtually
