Job overview

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to support Evolve - Hull Community Eating Disorder Service. The post holder will be required to cover the current Consultant Psychiatrist as required.


Main duties of the job

The role involves being responsive to and working closely with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) advising on, and participating in, the psychiatric assessment of patients to establish eating disorders and other psychiatric psychopathology.

The role will involve offering the MDT an expert opinion relating to the appropriateness of community or compulsory treatment for patients considered to be at higher risk. For example, a patient may present with red flags on the Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders (MEED) risk assessment and may not be agreeable to a medical admission.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Medical Degree (MD or Equivalent)
  • Core Psychiatry Training (CT1-CT3)
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry,
  • Fully registered with GMC and Included on the GMC Specialist Register
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrist's Guidelines)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Advanced knowledge relating to the medical risk management in eating disorders with reference to Medical Management in Eating Disorders (MEED) for Adults
  • Advanced knowledge relating to the psychological treatment and behavioural management of eating disorders in Adults
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act pertaining to eating disorders
  • Evidence of further learning in eating disorders
  • Understanding of current mental health legislation pertaining to the management of eating disorders

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a specialist eating disorder treatment setting
  • Experience of managing eating disorder patients with complex comorbidities
  • Use of IT equipment and electronic patient record (SystmOne)
