Clinical Lead Respiratory Physiotherapist - Critical Care & Surgery
Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking a Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to join our diverse team of allied health professionals.
The post holder will work within Critical Care & Surgery at Castle Hill Hospital in a Fixed Term Contract of 9 months.
The post holder will work alongside the MDT to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the therapy service provided to patients referred to the service. As a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, you will have advanced levels of clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of respiratory conditions.
You will take responsibility for the overall professional and organisational development of the therapy service. A high regard for clinical operations and governance, assuring high standards of patient centred care is required.
We are seeking people who can adapt to changing environment and work well in a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build social networks working in partnership with other agencies to identify and address the immediate need of patients.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the clinical management of the therapy service, providing care and rehabilitation to Cardiothoracic Surgery & Cardiology services.
The post holder will need to undertake the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, post surgical intervention, to determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated.
The post holder will be able to demonstrate specialist clinical skills, leadership and service development experience as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills and the post holder will contribute to service planning, development and teaching.

Essential criteria
- Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Post Graduate qualification/experience in leadership
Desirable criteria
- Qualification of recognised highly specialist skills in relevant areas ( Masters of equivalent )
- Evidence of Post Graduate training/qualification in relevant area
Experience
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate recent NHS experience or equivalent
- Experience on Intensive Care and specialist respiratory wards
- Evidence of current consolidated experience at a Senior Level in relevant speciality
- Understands own boundaries and knows when to report to senior staff
- Able to work alone and as part of a team - Physiotherapy and Multi-disciplinary
- Commitment to CPD
- To accept change and help support others during times of transition
- Able to justify clinical decisions to Medical staff
- On-Call Respiratory Physiotherapist experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of audit evaluation and research
- Experience delivering respiratory care training to patients/family/carers
- Awareness of legislation that may impact upon service delivery
Skills, knowledge and ability
Essential criteria
- Ability to manage highly complex caseload
- Ability to manage the performance of staff within the team
- Must be literate, numerate and possess good verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyse, select and apply appropriate interventions from a range of modalities
- Demonstrate ability to prioritise caseload and delegate clinical and non-clinical duties to staff of a lower grade
- Evidence of improvements in practice

- Lead the planning and delivery of in-service training
- Ability to monitor and manage the performance of staff within the team
- Ability to lead the Physiotherapy team to maintain clinical standards for the service
