A great opportunity has arisen and we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to become part of our friendly, dynamic, award winning Research Team at Chesterfield Royal hospital to support the delivery of NIHR adopted research studies.
Main duties of the job
Work with the research team to engage with the set up of new studies, recruit participants to the research studies, maintain follow up visits, be responsible for entering data onto trial databases, raise the profile of research within the trust, record and maintain accurate documentation relating to trial participants.
Responsibilities will include education of patients and colleagues, coordination of care of patients on trials, collection and preparation of biological samples, collection of trial data and monitoring of the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities. The post holder will be expected to develop specialised skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical trials, the therapies and the relevant disease site. The post holder will be expected to have sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patient’s advocate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Research nurse will take responsibility for the co-ordination and management of the clinical research portfolio comprising national and international clinical trials.
We are ideally seeking someone with experience in, or a keen interest in, clinical research, a knowledge of good clinical practice, good verbal and written communication, adaptability and attention to detail. Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- 1st level RGN (or equivalent).
- Current NMC professional registration
Desirable criteria
- Clinical research qualification.
- Consent Training.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- ICH GCP Training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post registration experience in an acute setting
- Evidence of achievement in previous/current roles.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Clinical Research.
