Job overview
**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**
East Cheshire NHS Trust has a very exciting opportunity available for a suitably qualified and experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to become part of our community Neuro Therapy team. We welcome applications from Occupational Therapists with a keen interest in working within an integrated community team, with proven clinical expert experience in neuro rehabilitation. The successful applicant will need to show a driven, positive, self motivated approach to work with the team to further develop and enhance the service provision for community neuro patients across East Cheshire.
This post is based across the East Cheshire locality, with a flexible base. It is therefore necessary to travel efficiently between sites and to rural areas.
Hours per week: 18 hours per week
Main duties of the job
- Provide clinical expertise, making decisions about the best course of action for patients' care. This will involve assessing patients and providing personalised rehabilitation plans, whilst working alongside multiple agencies, to determine the best management plan for patients.
- To provide leadership and clinical supervision to junior staff members
- Deliver programmes of supported patient rehabilitation, in ways that facilitate behavioral change, optimise individuals' physical activity, mobility, fulfilment of personal goals and independence, and that ensure patients can be maintained safely within their own homes, if possible.
- To maintain and develop links with the wider multi-disciplinary team to support and improve community neuro rehabilitation pathways across East Cheshire

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HCPC (Health and Care Professional Council) registration
- Occupational Therapy degree / diploma
- Attendance at masters level post graduate courses relevant to Neuro specialism
- Clinical Educator training
- Membership of a relevant professional body & related specialist sub-groups
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Post registration knowledge which is relevant to the specialist area (Neuro)
- In-depth knowledge of recent NHS legislation, recommendations for specialist area
- Detailed awareness of the national and local priorities and changing trends in the specialist area
- Proven extensive experience of working within community neurological occupational therapy
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the service / trust values & objectives
