Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled manager to join the Core Accounting Team (CAT), which forms part of the wider Hywel Dda UHB Finance team. As Deputy Head of CAT, with responsibility for the overall management and performance of the team, the successful candidate will be instrumental to the success and development of this team going forward.
Main duties of the job
• Responsible for the overall management and performance of the Core Accounting Team (CAT) which incorporates the different
functions of Debtors, Feeders, Continuing Health Care accounting transactions, Overseas patients and Non-contracted activity
administration. The post holder will be expected to deputise for the Head of Accounting & Statutory Reporting as required.
• Lead responsibility for the core process improvement agenda within Finance.
• Lead responsibility for accounting ledger integrity.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion).
Community facilities, including:
48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- CCAB qualification/experience and expertise to CCAB level
- Experience at management level with proven professional and managerial experience and expertise
- Knowledge of integrated financial systems
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of CPD
- Knowledge of Oracle System Accounting
- Knowledge of P2P (Purchase to Pay) System reporting
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in process improvement project management
- Experience of managing a large team
- Experience of delivering within challenging deadlines
- Demonstrable track record of career advancement and achievement
- Experience of managing change and associated behaviours
- Previous financial experience in the NHS
- Previous experience of working with substantial data sets

Essential criteria
- Able to work flexible hours around key reporting milestones
- Able to travel between sites and to All Wales meetings in a timely manner
- Committed and self-motivated
