Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5) in Urology to commence ASAP until 30 September 2025.

The post holder will be exposed to all aspects of Core Urology but will also have the opportunity to gain subspecialist experience in Functional Urology. 

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will participate in a middle grade, non-resident 1 in 9 on-call rota.

In order to be considered applicants must meet the essential criteria outlined in the person specification and have:

•    MRCS or equivalent qualification. 
•    Completed a minimum of 2 years or equivalent training as Clinical Fellow in Urology in the UK or equivalent.

Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The purpose of the post is to provide specialist training and competencies in the surgical management of kidney cancer and stone disease, experience in subspecialist clinics, and engagement in high-impact translational research. 

The post is open to ST3-5 level doctors. We would expect the candidate to be able to operate independently on general urology cases such as general endoscopic urological procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteric stent insertion and scrotal exploration, although Consultant support is always provided. Audit and research work would be supported and encouraged.

The Urology department consists of 21 Urology Consultants, including 3 Academic Consultants. The department centralises provision of urological oncology care including bladder, prostate, kidney and testicular cancers to a large part of the East Anglian Region in addition to fulfilling its District Hospital functions.
