Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS  Trust Immunisation Team  is responsible for the delivery of the national school based Vaccination Programme including Seasonal Flu, HPV, Teenage booster.

We deliver this service across Birmingham and Solihull  

The service also delivers the neonatal Hepatitis B vaccination programme.

We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated Immunisation Team Support Officer(s) to join our team.
The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the Immunisation Team nurses to run smooth, safe and efficient immunisation sessions within educational establishments, community clinics and homes.

Successful candidates will also be given the opportunity to  administer the nasal flu vaccination under supervision to primary aged pupils.

The post holder will support the Immunisation team nurse with the implementation of public health strategies to optimise the uptake of immunisations.

The post also involves administrative duties and some data inputting 

 

Main duties of the job

To work within Birmingham community healthcare policies and procedures and within agreed clerical and healthcare assistant standards of practice for the immunisation team.

To set up, monitor and maintain accurate, legible records of work, and effective office systems.

 To liaise with partner agencies including schools to arrange the distribution and collection of consent forms, ensuring 100% of the eligible population are offered the recommended vaccinations.

To attend health promotion activities, including parents evenings, school assembly's.

To order, monitor and maintain an optimum level of stock of clinical supplies including ordering of vaccines, immunisation equipment and non stock items.  To ensure maintenance of effective electronic and paper clinical record systems and filing of consent forms.

 To support the team in setting up immunisation sessions.

To provide administrative support for immunisation sessions across Birmingham, in a variety of settings including schools and community clinics.

To support the immunisation team nurses in the delivery of the immunisation programme.

To participate in the pre and post immunisation care of pupils.

To plan and book home visit’s as required.

To book interpreting services as identified as required.

Re-book missed immunisation visits, including the school based immunisation programme 

Collect data relating to immunisation activity
