Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Clinical Practice Trainer to work within the Trust’s People Directorate.

The Clinical Practice Trainer is responsible for the delivery of Mandatory Training, but will also be required to support core induction training, practice-based learning and CPD delivery. The role will also involve the support of staff on return to work programs.

The role is based at The Centre, Preston, but as Mandatory Training is delivered all across the North West and you will be required to support delivery of training at venues across the whole footprint of the Trust, including North and South Cumbria, as required.

We are looking for a qualified Paramedic, with HCPC registration and evidence of excellent patient care skills. Individuals, ideally, will hold a recognised teaching qualification at diploma level or equivalent or be working towards one. We will be looking for individuals with a proven experience in training delivery in a related field that could be translated into ambulance education practices.

Main duties of the job

Job Purpose

· Responsible for the teaching of NWAS mandatory education and training programmes to staff in accordance with approved clinical and education training standards. To ensure clinical staff operate within their scope of professional practice.

· Support delivery of education & training programmes within defined geographical area, as defined by the Head of Education and Training Development.

· Responsible for the maintenance of records; ensuring that training information is accurately and appropriately recorded and that forwarded in a timely manner.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registered, qualified Paramedic
  • Hold a recognised national teaching qualification – Diploma, HNC, CET or equivalent
  • Evidence of recent CPD for clinical practice
  • A proven record of training delivery
  • Full driving licence with C1 category

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to design and deliver training programmes to meet programme and student learning objectives; including theory, practical delivery and assessment.
  • Excellent planning & organisational skills.
  • Ability to design and implement changes to improve systems and processes.
