Adult Clinical Lead

We are recruiting for a Band 8a Adult Services Clinical Lead to join our team of healthcare scientists. The position is full time and will be based in Windsor though we work from several sites across east Berkshire. The successful candidate will have a varied workload seeing complex adult patients, for diagnostic assessment and rehabilitation, including tinnitus and vestibular work, with the opportunity to also work with paediatric patients at times.  

A dynamic health practitioner, you are IT literate and competent using Auditbase and DATIX to input data and produce reports, whilst you are a great believer in continuous professional development and quality improvement / assurance processes. 

You will communicate calmly, effectively and reassuringly with service users and will make them feel heard and understood. You will have your own caseload of patients, but will also have dedicated time to work on service development projects.

  • Hearing assessment of complex adult patients including speech testing 

  • Hearing aid rehabilitation for adult patients including those with tinnitus 

  • Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation clinics 

  • Line management of other audiologists within the team 

  • Supervision of STP and PTP students 

  • Involved in quality improvement and service development work

  • Registered (or ready to register) as a Clinical Scientist 
  • Post-qualification experience of working with complex adult patients 
  • Experience supervising students and line management

Education/Qualifications

  • Qualified to Masters degree level in Audiology and have successfully attained a certificate of clinical competence, such as Certificate of Audiological Competence, Higher Training Scheme, Scientific Training Programme or equivalent.
  • Relevant professional registration with appropriate body (HCPC, RCCP, AHCS)

  • HCPC state registration as a clinical scientist with evidence of CPD in accordance with HCPC standards.

Training

  • To have demonstrable post-qualification experience working autonomously in both diagnostic & (re)habilitative adult and paediatric audiology.
  • Have evidence of management/supervisory experience.
  • Have evidence of sound knowledge and clinical experience of a full range of both basic and advanced paediatric and adult assessment and rehabilitation techniques.

  • Have wide knowledge and experience of NHS networks/referral routes.
  • Have experience of clinical audit, research, and presentations at scientific meetings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possess good IT skills and ability to collate, manipulate and analyse data.
  • Evidence of an enquiring mind, a scientific approach and a commitment to the ideal of the NHS
