An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Psychological Therapist to join the Berkshire CAMHS Anxiety Disorders Treatment Team (ADTT).
BHFT CAMHS ADTT members are passionate about using individualised and formulation-led evidence-based approaches to help children, young people, and families. We provide specialist assessments and treatment for children and young people suffering with anxiety disorders, OCD and Tic Disorders across Berkshire.
The ADTT team prides itself on our inclusive practice, particularly our work with neurodivergent families. Our team has good research links and is pleased to offer training placements to Trainee Clinical Psychologists, Trainee CBT Therapists and Specialist Psychiatry registrars.
Supported by senior clinicians, you will manage a clinical caseload and deliver high quality, safe and effective psychological interventions across all sectors of related care across Berkshire. You will be working in collaboration with other psychological therapists and members of the clinical team and wider system in developing and formulating individualised treatment plans and supporting the delivery of psychologically informed care with a key part of the role being competency development in leadership skills and supervisory practice.
Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the delivery of psychological therapy within ADTT, providing expert professional leadership and advice relating to the delivery of psychological therapy for complex presentations requiring multiple interventions, complex or intensive risk management plans and high levels of multiagency working in order to ensure and develop consistently high quality, safe and cost effective services for users, working in partnership with key stakeholders internal and external to the Trust.

As we develop our on-line offer, to undertake a role in moderating service user activity on the Trust Support, Hope, Recovery On-Line Network (SHaRON) and to participate in on-line discussions and care delivery via this modality.

The post holder will be responsible for expert psychological assessment, case formulation, risk assessment and treatment for a designated number of patients presenting with complex mental health difficulties.

Manage, supervise, and support psychological practitioners/professionals and trainees, and other members of the clinical team within their area of responsibility, undertaking annual appraisals, as delegated by the Team Manager / Service Manager.

Chair multi-agency meetings to achieve positive outcomes, particularly for more complex clinical presentations.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The “must haves” for this role:
1. Post graduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
2. Registered with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP).
3. Experience of delivering therapy in specialist assessment and treatment pathways using CBT.
4. Providing Clinical leadership and/or management in using CBT to treat anxiety disorders or supervision pathways.
5. Experience of managing complex situations concerning safeguarding, risk management, complaints and investigations.

Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- For Clinical/Counselling Psychologist: Post graduate doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996 or for those who completed their training overseas) which provides eligibility for Chartered Membership of British Psychological Society (BPS)
- Registered and accredited with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Registered and accredited with professional body UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the UKCP.
- For All : Additional training/ accreditations (willingness to undertake or working towards these) to reflect post qualification specialism (e.g. Health Psychology, Neuropsychology, BABCP, UKCP, ACAT, EMDR-UK, BPS,).
Continuous Professional Development
Essential criteria
- Evidence of post-qualification training and expert knowledge in multiple psychological models and therapeutic approaches relevant to the service area. Having a robust awareness of the current evidence-base and new developments within the area of specialism
- Training in clinical supervision.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstratable post qualification experience working as a qualified psychologist offering evidence-based therapies in area of specialism.
- Experience of working in evidence-based ways with services users (and their carers/families) presenting with the full range of clinical severity across a range of settings. Also having the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of dealing with highly distressing or emotional circumstances, such as serious mental illness, child and sexual abuse, exploitation and complex family dynamics.
- Experience of delivering interventions across different modalities (e.g. individual, group and systemic-based approaches).
- Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environments.
- Experience of providing specialist advice and consultation to MDT and multi-agency colleagues to support the psychological care of service users.
- Experience of supervision (including of psychology roles) and ability to offer effective supervision to junior staff.
- Experience of developing and delivering teaching to a range of staff groups
- Experience of service development and carrying out clinical audit, evaluative research and applying the findings.
- Experience of service evaluation and implementing change from a national and local health or social care change agenda that impacts across services and professions.
