Staff Nurse - Oncology

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our clinical and medical oncology nursing teams as a staff nurse on wards C4 or D12.
We’re looking for highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic nurses with a genuine interest in cancer care nursing along with a commitment to continuous learning, team work and mutual support.
Our team is made up of passionate oncology nurses and healthcare assistants. We work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team on a daily basis including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, the palliative care team and other allied health professionals. There is a great team spirit on both clinical areas.
The C4 team provide 24 hour care for patients receiving inpatient radiotherapy treatment including specialist brachytherapy treatments, patients that are unwell with emergency oncology problems and palliative patients. C4 consists of 20 inpatient beds and 3 iodine rooms which are utilised for patients receiving specialist radioactive treatment.
The D12 team specialise in providing medical oncology care for a ward of 24 patients. The team provides inpatient SACT treatment to a variety of different cancers. The D12 team also care for unwell patients with emergency oncology problems and provide palliative and end of life care.

In this role, you’ll contribute to the provision and monitoring of high-quality individualised nursing care in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. You will:
Provide a high standard of care for patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for individual patients
Carry out all aspects of nursing care, treatments and procedures within agreed policies and procedures.
Undertake specific cancer care competencies including the administration of SACT, PCA/ epidural management and care of patients receiving radioactive treatment.
You’ll act as a role model to other staff, encouraging effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive nursing team.

- Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
- Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
- Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Knowledge of own role within the team
- Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
- Awareness of evidence-based practice
- Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
- Evidence of on-going personal development
- Able to use initiative
