An opportunity has arisen for a Smoking Cessation Co-ordinator to join the Smoking Cessation team, you will support implementation of the NHS Long Term Plan for Treating Tobacco Dependence within Secondary Care

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who’s role
will involve face to face mainly ward based communication, working closely with all staff and establishing and maintaining a robust, accessible and flexible support team for Staff and Patients.
Previous experience/knowledge of smoking issues essential
Hours can be flexible.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

•    To support the development and implementation of the Treating Tobacco Dependence Service for inpatient services and be responsible for delivering the objectives, improving health outcomes, supporting in-house tobacco treatment advisors
•    To be responsible for delivering and teaching evidenced based practice and will develop and maintain networks to share good practice and learning from each other across neighbouring Trusts and beyond. 
•    To be responsible for the development, implementation and local audit of services, policies, guidelines, training and pathways which will include data collection, performance management and quality assurance of the programme. 
•    To work alongside and support all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, Local Authority Public Health Stakeholders, Clinical Teams in local Trusts, Smoking Cessation Advisors and other health professionals and service providers engaged in this field of work. 
•    The postholder represents the RSCH in the Surrey Tobacco Alliance , Surrey Heartlands tobacco control programme and other cross-Surrey stakeholder gatherings 

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional qualification in relevant subject e.g. Nursing/Public Health/Allied Health Professional
  • Smoking Cessation NCSCT trained (or willing to undertake
Desirable criteria
  • Nurse Prescribing Certificate

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience of providing smoking cessation support
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Ability to use hospital information systems and analyse data
  • Experience of service development
  • Experience of teaching and delivering training and educational sessions to healthcare professionals
  • Public health and the wider smoking cessation and tobacco control agenda
